At the setting I work in close proximity with the child and their parents to make sure that the children are developing at a steady positive pace . I do regular observations and use the EYFS Outcomes as my guide and monitor progress in this way. Should I observe that a child needs additional support my first port of call is to get parents involvement and discuss best methods of working cohesively to help the child once identification is made. The staff in the setting consists of two Ofsted Registered childminders, we work together and have ample knowledge of supporting the children emotionally and physically. We do regular training and keep up to date with new procedures and methods. We share good practise and have good relations with parents. We operate child development through the EYFS outcomes, this is the recommended portal for childcare across the board. We have strong links with the Consortia and the Liverpool City Council, should I require any services from counselling to specific SEN agencies I would know where to go to and get the child and parent additional support immediately. We have great links with local schools in the area. I have done many community events that has involved the gathering of local schools and they know who we are in the area and recommend us highly. When a child is transitioning usually from another setting to ours or most commonly from our setting to higher education ie Reception Class then I visit the school or send correspondence so the school will know that child’s ability in all areas of development. I produce an exit evaluation and identify certain needs that may require further attention if that is the case. I provide full observation folders prior to starting new school so the new childcare providers can see the development more clearly. We have very strong links with the parents at our setting. I send out Monthly Newsletter to let them know what is going on in the setting, we have regular 121 and Termly Children Progress Reports.
At Little Munchkins we strive to provide excellent care for the children and that is because we genuinely care for the children and their development.
