Activate Community Education Services

Activate is a registered Charity that provides personalised educational and vocational programmes for young adults with learning difficulties and disabilities. We offer two programmes:

Activate Futures:

This personalised 3 day per week study programme is for 19-24 year olds with learning difficulties and disabilities and focuses on building the skills and experience needed to pursue an activate life in the local community. Learners take part in volunteering, work experience and options such as travel training to further develop their independence and prepare them for the future. 

The programme consists of: vocational skills (including animal care, horticulture, drama, creative studies, practical independence skills), personal and social development, volunteering/work experience, local community projects, functional skills Maths & English, employability skills and life skills. 

Activate Choices:

This personalised 3 day per week study programme is for 19-24 year olds who have profound and multiple learning difficulties, severe learning difficulties or other conditions requiring high levels of support. Activate Choices continues to build on previous curricula from school and focuses on individual and personal goals. 

The programme consists of: personal and social development (focusing on communication & your aspirations), participation in community projects at our centre, trips into the local community, sensory activities and vocational skills.

The programme is free to young people who are 19-24 and who have an Education Health Care Plan. Anyone can make a referral, including direct contact from parents/carers.

Description

We provided personalised educational and vocational programmes for 19-24 year olds with learning difficulties and disabilities. Our courses consists of vocational skills, maths/english, life skills, employabilty skills, volunteering/work placements and some creative sessions including art and drama.
