Local Offer
- Description
At Lister Steps our aim is to enable every individual child to meet their full potential.
An intial assessment is completed with Parents/carers before the child starts at the setting, this helps to support the child during their transition into nursery
This is used as a starting point we then observe and assess regularly building up a learning journal keeping parents informed of their child’s progress. This also highlights any addition needs which can then be addressed and planned for with full support and consent from parents, SENCO and where necessary, other agencies.
Each child will have a key person with whom you can talk to and share information with. They will build strong bonds with the family and will monitor and support your child’s progress and development offering individual planned activities to support learning and development.
Each key person has EYFS training and has a good knowledge and understanding of developmental matters.
All children are treated as unique individuals and are planned for accordingly to offer the best activities to further develop their learning throughout EYFS
Lister steps Ltd are members of the Early Years Consortia and are very much involved in the process. We work closely with the SALT team we also access support from the local educational psychologist team. We have good links with our local children’s centres. Lister Steps has highly trained staff who continue to expand and develop their knowledge through training
Our setting is wheelchair accessible and we are happy to discuss your child’s individual needs. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive setting and strongly believe in equality for all. We work in partnership with Fusion, Disabled Childrens Services to offer play opportunities and care to children with SEN. Where necessary Children are supported with 1-1 care.
Lister Steps has developed a good relationship with the local schools and work closely with them to support smooth transitions. We visit the schools and invite them to visit us, we have produced a book for each school which contains a short story featuring our puppet Sally with staff members and school teachers. We have included photographs of the school and activities. Our children really respond well to this resource.
Within our setting as children move up to the next room they have transition visits supported by their key person, who ensures they are well settled and introduced to their new key person. This promotes a smooth transition with minimal disruption for the childrenLister Steps operates an open door policy, our parents are always made welcome and can discuss their child’s progress at anytime.
We have social events which our parents are invited to and parents are encouraged to attend day trips, parties and celebrations and fun days.
We are a registered charity and Parents join the organisation when they register, this gives them voting rights at our AGM. Parents are welcome to become Trustees they are invited to open evenings and are kept informed via newsletters, social media and email.- Local Offer Age Bands
