Little Foxes (Garston) Ltd

We are a 60 place nursery close to local bus routes, train stations and shopping area. We have a large, well equipped outdoor area, which the children spend at least 80% of the day out in the fresh air carrying out a variety of activities.  The staff follow the child's interests when planning activities and children are encouraged to decide what activities they would like set up.  The team will them encourage the children to set up the activity ready for their friend to take part.  The babies have their own outdoor space which they can free flow from out doors to indoors as they choose, all resources are on the children's level so they are able to access and explore them at anytime they choose.  Babies individual routines are followed throughout the day and there is a mixture of planned activities and in the moments activities for the children get involved in.  All children are encouraged to be independent from an early age, as soon as babies are able to sit at the table they are encouraged to self serve meals which carries on throughout the nursery.  Once the children move into toddlers we encourage the children to as independent as possible to ensure they are self sufficient go going to school.

Local Offer

Description

1. How does the setting know if children need extra help and what should I do if I think my child may have special educational needs?

Every child is tracked once a year on their birthday and if there is any gaps in the children's learning then they are planned for accordingly. If it is found that a child has SEN then a EHAT will be completed and the setting with with the appropriate services to benefit the child and support their needs.

2. How will the staff in the setting support my child?

Each child is assigned a key person whom will ensure that each child's individual needs are met.

3. How will the curriculum be matched to my child's needs?

Each child has a educational programme to match their individual needs and development, these are assessed through observations and planned activities.

4. What specialist services and expertise can be accessed by the setting?

The setting works with the local children's centre and the local school.

5. How accessible is the setting?

The setting is open to all children and their families, they are treated as equals, ensuring that all needs are met.

6. How will the setting support my child in transferring to the next stage of education?

Children are tracked and a accessed before moving on to school.  We also ask the local schools to come and meet the children within the setting.  The key person also writes a report for the teacher giving them a starting point of the child's development and meet with the teachers to discuss any special needs any of the children may require.  The nursery has close links with the local schools to ensure that the children have the smoothest transition possible.

7. How are parents involved in the setting? How can I be involved?

The nursery has an open door policy allowing parents to come and discuss anything about their child as and when they feel it necessary.  We also hold a parents evening January and July and once a term we hold a stay and play session on a Saturday morning encouraging all parents to get involved in their children's education.  We have found this to be really beneficial as this gives the key person time to talk to the parents at length with no time restraints of rushing of to work to trying to get the child home at the end of the day,
