OFSTED 2015

“Behaviour and safety of the children is outstanding, characterised by exemplary conduct around the school and attentive listening. “

OFSTED 2019

“For many pupils, school provides a sanctuary where they have fun, feel safe and learn new things.”

We pledge to ‘Lay the Foundations for Life’ for our pupils and are focused on providing an excellent education for all. We strive to create an inclusive and safe environment that guides and stimulates our children to achieve through enjoyment.

We value and care for every member of our school community and we work as a team to ensure that our pupils are the best that they can possibly be. We work hard to ensure that all children, regardless of ability, race, gender or disability feel secure and develop confidence and self-esteem.

Our value driven curriculum promotes Restorative Practice, prioritises emotional wellbeing and develope positive attitudes towards managing money wisely through our delivery of 'Lifesavers' financial education.

We strive to raise aspirations, develop talents and to ensure that all children receive a rich, broad and balanced curriculum, enhanced with ‘adventurous learning’ by working in partnership with services across the City, including libraries, museums, galleries and leisure services.

We value achievement and attainment. In recognition of this we have been awarded the: Basic Skills Award, Primary Science Quality Mark, the Health and Wellbeing Award, School Games and Investors in Pupils Award for valuing and promoting pupil voice. We are proud of our gold standard awards for the Liverpool Reading Quality Mark and Liverpool Numeracy Quality Mark. We have also achieved the School of Sanctuary status and provide a welcoming place of safety for all.

We drive for high standards and aspirations and everyone in our school community works together. We value close partnerships with parents/carers as we appreciate the impact our working together can have on a child's happiness, progress and wellbeing.

School of Sanctuary

“We support the ‘City of Sanctuary’ vision that the UK will be a welcoming place of safety for all and proud to offer sanctuary to people fleeing violence and persecution.

We endorse the City of Sanctuary Charter, and agree to act in accordance with City of Sanctuary values and apply the network principles within our work (as far as our specific context enables us to).

We recognise the contribution of people seeking sanctuary. Sanctuary seekers are welcomed, included and supported within our context. We expect our branches or local groups (if any) to support their local City of Sanctuary group if one exists, and will facilitate contact between them and their local City of Sanctuary group.”

SEND Curriculum Statement

At Stockton Wood Primary School, we believe that all children are entitled to receive a high-quality of education regardless of their needs or disabilities. We are committed to raising aspirations and improving outcomes for all children so that are both supported and challenged to experience success and fulfil their potential. We provide a curriculum that ensures children’s social and emotional wellbeing, confidence and self-esteem are nurtured and academic resilience is built in order to prepare children for secondary school, with the confidence to communicate and thus make a successful transition into adulthood. We want to “lay the foundations for life.”

Stockton Wood – ‘A Quiet Place’.

‘A Quiet Place’ helps children and families to develop emotional intelligence and to manage their well-being through stories, drama, art, aromatherapy and relaxation sessions.  Everybody benefits from ‘A Quiet Place’ at Stockton Wood – children, parents and staff.

‘A Quiet Place’ programmes focus upon:

  • Managing feelings
  • Resilience and empathy
  • Self esteem
  • Confidence and self awareness
  • Successful communication and relationships

'A Quiet Place' offers an emotional intelligence curriculum. Emotional intelligence develops the capacity for recognising our own feelings and those of others, for motivating ourselves and for managing our emotions well in ourselves and in our relationships.  Emotional intelligence helps our children to be ready to learn and to achieve.

Stockton Wood – Restorative Practice

The aim of restorative practice is to develop community and to manage ‘falling out’ and tensions by repairing harm and building relationships.  This is our priority as a restorative school, as we see ourselves at the heart of and serving the community.

Restorative Practice complements and supports our Behaviour Policy.

Our school community have chosen the values below as the foundations for Restorative Practice within our school:

  • Friendship
  • Love
  • Kindness
  • Fun
  • Respect

Local Offer

Description

Stockton Wood is an inclusive school who caters for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities across the four broad areas of the Code of Practice (2015).

The school adopts a 'whole child-whole school' approach to managing the needs of children with SEND.

We use a 'graduated approach' , with early identification at the heart of practice to help overcome barriers to learning.

We are part of a SEND Consortium and use a 'Step Model' to ensure consistency in practice when following the ASSESS-PLAN-DO-REVIEW cycle.
