Spring Park Nursery
Spring Park Nursery was purpose built in 2002, we are a 101 place day nursery open throughout the whole year. Situated on Muirhead Avenue East L11, we are positioned well for easy access from the M57 and M62.
We are on a main road and have a large car park making drop off and collection very convenient for parents/carers and children.
We have four large rooms; Baby Buttercups (0-2), Toddler Tulips (2-3) and 2 Preschool rooms - Primrose and Poppy (3-5). Our rooms provide a light and airy home from home learning environment, using calm neutral colour scheme, promoting a place for children to flourish in. We opt for more real life and natural objects for children to explore; therefore, you will not see many plastic toys.
Developing a language rich environment, supports all areas of development with the children in a fun creative way. We like to create communication friendly environment spaces including little 'hub areas' where children will go and chill and talk to their friends!
Our aim is quite simple; to be an excellent place for children to come to, a place where children are happy and can thrive and where parent/carers feel confident that their child receives the very best!

The nursery children have weekly sing and sign sessions to support language and communication in baby room and Toddler room.
All children have access to their own outdoor garden. Babies and Toddlers have direct access from their rooms. Pre school have a particularly large garden area space which includes a digging and planting area.
All children go out into the community regularly. Outings will include; trips to the local shops, trips to the local parks and outings to places like the vets to increase children's knowledge and understanding of the world. We also have visits to the nursery from the Police and Fire Brigade.

1. How does the setting know if children need extra help and what should I do if I think my child may have special educational needs?
Before a child starts at our nursery they are invited to attend visiting sessions to help their child settle into the nursery and to share information with staff. Some children will need more visiting sessions than others depending on how well they begin to settle. During the first of these visits a staff member from the room will speak with you and complete an "All About Me" form which is used as the starting point of your child's learning and development journey at the nursery. Initial visits to the nursery give you the opportunity to discuss any SEN concerns
Approximately six weeks after your child has started at the nursery, the key worker will complete a full develoment assessment off all areas of learning using the Development Matters Framework.
The assessemnt is informed by what you tell us about your child and by informal and formal observation made whilst getting to know your child . This review of development is shared with you and presents an opportunity to discuss any concerns that you may have about learning and development. The assessment then informs the next steps for learning and development.
All children's progress is monitered coninually through informal and formal observations and monthly refective accounts. At the end of each term childrens overall development is assessed in all areas of learning.
Staff share information with parents daily and also invite parents to termly one to one meetings with their child's key person to discuss development.
All 2 year old children recieve a 2 year assessemnt check completed by the key worker. This is shared with parents and if permission has been obtained from the parents, this assessment will be shared with the child's health visitor also.
You are encouraged to speak with the key worker about any concerns you may have about your child at any time.
2. How will the staff in the setting support my child and how will the curriculum be matched to my child's needs?
As well as continuous provision in the rooms, staff will plan daily activities to support childrens individual needs and interests. In addition to this, staff identify a particular area to focus on for their key children and share this with you along with suggestions to support at home also.
3. What specialist services and expertise can be accessed by the setting?
We can access support from Childrens Centre support staff, Speech and Language Therapy Services, Educational Psychologist and Health visiting Team, all of whom can then signpost to other services to support individual children including Paediatricians.
4. How accessible is the setting?
The nursery is easily accessible to all rooms and gardens on the ground floor though one room is upstairs.
5. How can you support my child in transferring to the next stage of education?
All children are supported in their transitions on an individual basis that best suits their needs.
6. How are parents involved in the setting? How can I be involved?
We consult with parents on a daily basis and more formerly on a regular basis. Monthly we share 'main focus' we are working on with your child and suggest ways of supporting this area of development at home.
Parents attend meetings at the nursery which are arranged to discuss particular support for individual children. Parents can request a meeting with their key worker and/or Senco at any time.
