Mary Seacole House
Mary Seacole House is a multicultural mental health charity and a resource service for people from primarily BAMER (Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic and Refugees) communities who are living with mental health issues and who also encounter racism or discrimination in their day to day lives.
Mary Seacole House offers a wide and varied range of support aiming to develop the confidence of people using the service.
Support can be delivered on a one to one basis or within a group setting. Within the group sessions we offer activity based learning and development as well as leisure and relaxation sessions.
We are currently delivering all of our services online and our offices are not open. This will be updated once we have more information.
Services we provide:
Individuals have access to emotional and practical support, including a range of activities which will promote independence and offer the opportunity to learn new skills.
Service offered through an Independent Community Advocate to individuals experiencing mental health problems.
BME Family Service
The BME Family Service is a support service that provides emotional and practical assistance to local BME families who are experiencing mental health problems.

Placements are available for Universities and colleges for students studying Social Work, Health & Social Care and Counseling.
Volunteers can work throughout the whole organisation.
Due to government advice regarding Coronavirus disease (COVID-19)
Mary Seacole House has suspended all group activities, training days and face to face contact. Our offices will be closed until further notice.
We want to reassure you that the welfare of our staff and service user’s is of the utmost importance to us and the staff team are continuing with their vital work offering support over the phone and via email from the safety of their own homes. We understand that this will be a difficult time for us all and especially those already experiencing severe mental illnesses. We’re trying to alleviate anxiety and stress for our most vulnerable service user’s ensuring that their mental health does not suffer any further by keeping in contact with them regularly and advising them to follow the latest government guidance.
The organisation is still taking referrals for anyone who feels that they need support with their mental health well-being. Referrals can be made via the main email or telephone line.
Our main telephone line 0151 707 0319 is being manned 9.00-4.00pm Monday-Friday. Although we can only pass messages on through this line, all service users will have the contact numbers for their keyworker’s mobiles.
