Local Offer

Description
  1. How does the setting know if children need extra help and what should I do if I think my child may have special educational needs?
  2.

All our children are monitored in their development, any delay is identified through observation and this is then passed onto the special Educational Needs coordinator who is on site at the nursery. The Senco will observe the child with the key person and the SENCO will make a referral to the relevant professional eg-Speech and Language The parent will be fully informed at all times and will be invited to attend any meetings held and kept up to date with their child’s progress.

2. How will the staff in the setting support my child?

Staff will get support from the SENCO in the nursery, we will monitor and do some one to one and small group work.

Observations may be increased to gain as much information about your child, we work closely with the parent and any other professionals involved to gain the best outcomes for your child.

3. How will the curriculum be matched to my child's needs?

We follow the foundation stage and monitor your child’s development.

We ask you to complete a starting point which includes all your child’s likes and dislikes before they start.

We monitor your child’s development through observation covering the areas of learning, personal social and emotional, communication and language, physical, literacy, mathematical and expressive art and design skills.

We have parent evenings were we give feedback on your child’s development, we also offer meetings throughout the day to discuss your child’s development with the key person

4. What specialist services and expertise can be accessed by the setting?

We have a SENCO on site and liaise with the area SENCO and link with other agencies if required e.g. Speech and Language, Physiotherapists etc.

5. How accessible is the setting?

The setting is on ground level and has no stairs indoors or outdoors,

Parking is available outside the nursery.

6. How will the setting support my child in transferring to the next stage of education?

We have a transition coordinator in our preschool room, she ensures all schools are contacted and their teachers meet your child before they start on their new journey to school, we take photographs of the schools and share these with your child before they start so that they become familiar with their new surroundings.

Arrangements can be made for your child’s key person to attend the school with your child if they are anxious or have any additional needs were they may need some extra support.

7. How are parents involved in the setting? How can I be involved?

We have regular Newsletters for parents each month, we encourage parents to become parent reps for the nursery, new parents can email them with any queries or advice they may require about us.

Parents are involved in parent workshops they can attend to see how the nursery educates their children and can participate in activities throughout the year such as baking, gardening and growing, celebrating different cultures, grandparents are also welcome to attend.
