1. How does the setting know if children need extra help and what should I do if I think my child may have special educational needs?
If your child is new to our setting then progress will be discussed with you regularly and we are happy to liaise with any previous setting including childminders with your consent. We will continue to observe children and do 4 monthly reviews and speak daily to parents/carers.
2. How will the staff in the setting support my child?
The progress of all children is monitored and reviewed regularly and shared with parents. We measure progress using;
- EYFS, Learning Journals, Observations, sensory play, visuals/symbols, small group work, key worker system.
- Referral to specialist services
3. How will the curriculum be matched to my child's needs?
The curriculum is adapted to a child's individual needs.
4. What specialist services and expertise can be accessed by the setting?
We work in partnership with the local authority, health and social care services.
We are members of the Early Years Consortia.
Staff have been trained/are qualified in Helping children’s speech & language, safe guarding, Common assessment framework (caf training)First aid, Safe handling of medicines, , Supporting development of effective pedagogy for two year olds, Observation, assessment and planning, supporting communication & language in 2 yr olds, 2 year progress check, Quality improvement, Training for sencos, Mathematics assessment, food, health & hygiene, Attachment and the key worker.
5. How accessible is the setting?
The setting is has a moveable ramp for wheelchair access
We are happy to discuss your child individual needs and to make reasonable adjustments
6. How will the setting support my child in transferring to the next stage of education?
We work closely with schools in our local area, inviting teachers in to our setting to meet the children who will be going into their class. Circle time talking about our new schools.
7. How are parents involved in the setting? How can I be involved?
We operate an open door policy and invite parents to discuss their child's progress regularly.
We have monthly open days for parents to come in and speak with their child’s key worker. Communicate through phone and email if parents cannot get into setting.
