Savera UK

Savera UK is one of the leading charities working to end ‘honour’-based abuse (HBA) and other culturally-specific abuse in the UK, including forced marriage and female genital mutilation (FGM). It campaigns to eliminate HBA and harmful practices and provides life-saving services including safeguarding and advocacy for those at risk, regardless of age, culture, sexuality or gender.

‘Savera’ means ‘new beginning’ in Hindi, a theme that is symbolic of the support the charity provides to those who are at risk of harmful practices. Since launching its one-to-one service in 2017, Savera UK has safeguarded and advocated on behalf of hundreds of clients, helping them out of abusive environments and into their ‘Savera’. We provide direct intervention services and emotional and practical support to help survivors of HBA and harmful practices gain economic independence and move forward into their future with confidence.

If you, or someone you know, are at risk of ‘honour’-based abuse, including forced marriage, female genital mutilation, virginity testing or breast ironing, you can contact us for confidential, practical and culturally-sensitive advice. We also provide support and advice for professionals and practitioners.

Whatever your worry or concern, please contact us on our helpline 0800 107 0726 (operates weekdays 10am - 4pm).
