Manual Handling Training

Springwood Heath Outreach Team have 3 qualified Centaur Manual handling Trainers who offer a bespoke service to meet the needs of children and staff within their educational settings. We support and train staff to use various methods and equipment to safely move and handle children with physical disabilities and for those who have had an accidental injury.

Springwood Heath Outreach Service provide training throughout Liverpool for children and staff.

The training consists of full/half days or a twilight. Emergency training can also be provided within the school setting prior to attendance at a full days course.

The training covers: Spinal Awareness. Back care, Legal Requirements, Safer Moving & Handling of children and Base to Face.

The team will provide follow up Refresher training/visits on the school site to ensure the Health & Safety needs of the staff and child are met.

The team are also available to liaise with the Community Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists, arrange for sling representatives to visit and can offer advice on the physical inclusion of children with a disability into their school settings.
