Local Offer
- Description
1. How does the setting know if children need extra help and what should I do if I think my child may have special educational needs?
When your child first starts at our setting we will offer them some settling sessions and introduce you to your child`s key person, we will ask you to be as open and honest and relay as much information to the memeber of staff as you can, as you are there prime carer and know all their likes, interests, needs, behaviours, development etc. This will also give you the opportunity to express any concerns you may have. We will then gain consent from yourself to make contact with your child`s health visitor, GP or any other attached outside agencies your child may be involved with, or any other previous settings your child may have attended. At every time of this process we will keep you updated and involved. Information sharing is the most effective communication tool.
2. How will the staff in the setting support my child?
Staff will share when collecting from nursery what your child has eaten, slept, daily update on your child`s wellbeing too. Staff use an app called Famly in which parent/carers can access observations and photographs which enables you to gain an insight into activities, experiences your child may have taken part in, staff will also use daily diaries for babies as requested by parents after holding a parents forum which will relay basic information such as what your child as eaten, nappy changes, moods, activities, planned or spontaneous etc. Each child also has their own individual personal learning and development file where staff will keep their 2 year developments, trackers looking developmentally where each child is progressing which then enables them to detect any areas a child may need support either if they are below typical development or above and what next they are going to implement to support them.
3. How will the curriculum be matched to my child's needs?
Each child is an individual and will progress, learn and develop at different stages and ages.
At our setting we will provide activities and experiences for children at the child`s level of understanding and adapt it to their individual needs. Staff will observe, plan and assess, also by the input from parents/carers, other professionals etc. the curriculum can be enhanced or adapted to cater for each individual child`s likes, interests and needs. Ensuring our practice is as inclusive as possible.
4. What specialist services and expertise can be accessed by the setting?
We work in partnership with the local authority, health and social care services.
We are members of the Early Years Consortia.
Staff have been trained/are qualified in EYPS, Special Educational needs, All staff are level 3 and 4 qualified. Safeguarding, staff attend any training to further their CPD to continually support their role. EHAT training, DIP TAC Cluster meetings, Leadership briefings, Wellcomm training, PANCO, ADHD Foundation Neurodiversity access, SENISS, Ed Pysch support.
5. How accessible is the setting?
The setting is wheelchair accessible.
We are happy to discuss your child`s individual needs and to make reasonable adjustments as and when needed to support each child`s needs. We have a ramped garden which enables us to take the indoor learning to the outdoors.
6. How will the setting support my child in transferring to the next stage of education?
We attend the Local Authority transition meetings annually which gives us the opportunity to speak to a member of staff at the schools the children at our setting will be attending to give them a brief insight to the children before they start at their new school.
We also offer and invite any schools to visit our setting and speak to the children`s key person. We also attended a short transition visit with a couple of our children.
7. How are parents involved in the setting? How can I be involved?
We invite parents to discuss their child's progress as much as possible and hold a parents evening annually..
We hold a mother`s day breakfast in BH cafe bar where we invite our mums/ carers/ dads/ grandparents etc.
We hold graduation ceremonies for our leavers and hold a leavers party inviting the children back mid September to show off their new uniforms.
